Best Places to Celebrate New Year’s in NYC
Times Square is the most obvious place to spend New Year’s Eve in New York City. But if you’re not excited by the prospect of waiting with tens of thousands of other people, in the freezing cold, to watch the ball drop, you’ll be pleased to know that it isn’t the only place to ring in the New Year. It’s a great sight, sure, and there’s something about the energy of the crowd, watching the old year die and starting a new one, that is infectious, but it’s not for everyone.
Here are a few of the other best places to celebrate New Year’s in NYC:
The Barclays Center
The Barclays Center always manages to find someone great to play their New Year’s Eve concert. This
year, they have Jimmy Buffet and Huey Lewis and the News. If you’re a fan of either of these two acts, you’re sure to enjoy spending the last night of 2015 watching them perform.
Concerts are always fun, but acts that perform on New Year’s Eve always pull out all of the stops and give their audience something to remember. Both Jimmy Buffet and Huey Lewis and the News are going to be playing all their hits—don’t miss your chance to see these two powerhouses of 1970s music perform
Glitterballnyc.com NYE 2016
It’s got a long and strange name, but it’s slated as being one of the best New Year’s Eve parties in the city—and only $20 per head. This year, they’ve rounded up some of the best DJs, many of whom got their start in early 90s raves, so you know that the music is going to be good. If you want to dance in the New Year, this is probably the best place to do it.
Concert for Peace
Outside of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, you’ll find the 32nd annual Concert for Peace. Starting at 7 p.m. there will be music and dance, prayers, and speeches.
There are some free admissions tickets available—if you get there early, admission is generally $30, while you can also purchase a seat online, starting at $100. If you want to do something with a little more meaning and a little less fanfare, this is the location for you.
Madison Square Garden
Playing Madison Square Garden this New Year’s Eve is Phish. This is going to be another great concert to ring in the New Year, but only if
you can still find tickets. They sold like wildfire after the concert was announced, but there might still be some brokers out there selling them if this is how you want to spend the last night of 2015.
The Big Apple Circus
For a truly unique NYE experience, why not check out the Big Apple Circus and their New Year’s party. The show starts at 9:30 pm, and is the perfect place to bring the kids if one of the more mainstream events is going to be too busy. After the show, there will be dancing and live music!
New Year’s Eve should be about celebrating the year that is gone by and the start of a new one. Any one of these five venues is the perfect place to do just that!
